New for 2025–26 — a springboard into MLS NEXT Homegrown for boys continuing to develop at a high level.
Overview
- A competition tier launched by Major League Soccer starting September 2025, giving college, professional, and national-team scouts a talent-identification pathway.
- Six teams for the 2026–27 season, spanning U13 through U19.
- A springboard into MLS NEXT Homegrown for boys continuing to develop at a high level.
Training & games
- 3 training sessions per week for field players.
- Goalkeepers train separately, 1 session per week, with a Triangle United goalkeeper trainer.
Competition
- Regional tournaments through the season (one of eight regions nationally); results qualify teams for the MLS NEXT Cup championship event in 2026.
- Optional MLS NEXT Fest attendance in December for eligible age groups.
- Competes against clubs including Carolina Core, Wake FC, and Charlotte Independence.
Season
U13–U14: August through May. U15–U19: primarily December through May, with some games possible during the high school season.
